How to install Chromium (Google Chrome) in Ubuntu
Google Chrome is a web browser developed by Google. I’ve been using it since last september when the first beta was released. Although the current version is 2.0 Chrome it’s still only available for Microsoft Windows. However there is Chromium, the open source project behind Google Chrome. PPA for Ubuntu Chromium Daily Builds maintains Ubuntu daily builds of the Chromium browser and here is a little how to for installing Chromium Browser in Ubuntu Linux.
1. Add the PPA repositories to your sources.list file. Open your /etc/apt/sources.list file with any text editor you wish, like gedit (sudo gedit) and add the following lines:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
2. Open a terminal and add the OpenPGP key using the following command:
sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 0xfbef0d696de1c72ba5a835fe5a9bf3bb4e5e17b5
3. Finally update the repositories and install the Chromium browser with the following commands:
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install chromium-browser
And that’s it, now you will start the Chromium Browser from the menu Applications > Internet > Chromium Web Browser
