How to create text reflection with Inkscape

Let’s make a nice looking text logo with reflection using Inkscape.

Step One Open Inkscape and using the Text tool (F8) write the text you want to work with. Example text will be Some Kind of PAPER

Step Two Select the text with the Object Selection Tool (F1), clone it pressing Alt+D on your keyboard and then flip it vertically pressing V. Move the mirrored text so it lays down the original text.

Step Three Cover the mirrored text with a rectangle (F4).

Step Four Use the Gradient Tool (Ctrl + F1) to fill the rectangle with a vertical gradient going from solid black to solit white.

Step Five Using the Object Selection Tool (F1) select both the rectangle and the text under it.

Step Six Apply the gradient rectangle as a mask (Object > Mask > Set) and you are done!

Now you have your text logo with reflection, and all in six simple steps! Hope you like this mini-tutorial.
